What is a Terran?
Terrans are a species that split off from homo
sapiens over 50,000 years ago. As they became
more and more isolated from their human cousins, they
evolved and developed preternatural abilities to control
Earth, Air, Fire, Water and the Spirit.
During the early ages of man, the Terrans were often
called gods, goddesses, sorcerors, witches, and prodigies.
As their elemental abilities grew stronger, they kept
their magick hidden. They’d learned early on
that man feared what he did not understand—that
fear often led to persecution and death for Terrans.
About the time of the Industrial Revolution, Terrans
soon realized that mankind had stepped onto a path
of destruction for Mother Earth. They realized that
they had the ability to save both the planet, and
their human cousins, from ultimate destruction.
The Terrans’ early efforts to save the world
were loose and disorganized.
But at the beginning of the 20th Century they formed
a group called the Keepers of the Environment, or
KOTE. It was KOTE’s job to form protocols to
protect the world's delicate ecological balance. But
as with all organizations, splinter groups with their
own agendas formed.
One such group—The Destroyers—raised its
ugly head in the 1980s. Their agenda was the accumulation
of material wealth and power—and the destuction
of KOTE.
Book of the Sorhineth
The Book of the Sorhineth is an ancient Terran tome
in which the future is foretold and all the important
magick and alchemy of the early Terrans is preserved.
The Book has been protected since time immemorial
by the Wardens. The Wardens are humans of the Kennedy
family from Ireland. In the 1860s, a Seer concerned
about the future safety of the Book in a Europe that
would soon see the rise of an evil dictator—Hitler—ordered
them to emigrate to the United States.
The Kennedy clan settled in the northeastern United
States, in and around Boston. For over a hundred years,
the Book remained hidden, seemingly forgotten by the
Terrans.
After the Loma Prieta earthquake, one Terran, a Protector
by the name of Donovan Callahan, arrived in Boston
at the behest of KOTE and ignited a series of incendiary
events that led the Keepers and Protectors of KOTE
into direct confrontation with the Destroyers among
them. The repercussions of the return of the Book
and Donovan and the Book’s Warden Brenna Kennedy
can still be felt into the 21st Century.
