Protectors
Protectors are the muscle with magick. They ensure
that the Terran Keepers are protected as they do thier
thing and are never compromised.
They are physically strong and mentally tough.

 I've been told that I'm an Irish Terran -- a Fire Keeper and a Protector.
Now, the Protector bit I can understand. Seventeen years in the Irish Army and fifteen of those as a
member of the special forces unit, The Irish Army Rangers, support that. And I guess my ability to make
things burn with a glance makes sense if I am a Fire Keeper.
If I'm so special, why did I lose my cool when Paddy, the man I loved, died in my arms? How do I live with myself and my feelings
for Paddy when the very thought of taking Eileen Murray to bed makes me sweat?
And, now, I've met Dagda and Mach, heroes from ancient legends. Dagda tells me it's my turn to be a
hero. Mach gives me peace while inciting my passion.
A mad man threatens to bring destruction to the world, more than any terrorist group I've ever
fought. But before I can help defeat this Destroyer, I have to accept who I am and find my balance or
I'll be of no use at all ... and the enemy will win.

 My
job as a Protector, obviously, is to protect Keepers.
I’ve guarded all kinds—Earth, Air, Water,
Fire and Spirit—keeping them safe as they do
their job of aligning energies and controlling the
elements.
Before I began working exclusively for KOTE on special
ops, I was in the C.I.A. for many years. I’ve
seen a lot of terrible things in this world, probably
more than most people. Sometimes it’s hard to
see any good in humans at all. They’re a grasping,
greedy lot. But then Terrans have their own flaws.
There seem to be more Destroyers than ever these days,
power hungry sociopaths hell-bent on causing chaos
and seizing as much power as they can.
I go where KOTE sends me and do what I can to circumvent
Destroyer plots. It means I spend a lot of time on
the road, which gets lonely and wearing. Sometimes
I wish I could stop traveling, stop troubleshooting
and find a quiet place to rest and enjoy a little
peace. But Protector isn’t really a job I can
quit. It’s more than a calling. It’s simply
what I am.

 I'm a
lawyer for KOTE. I handle all those nasty little details that must be taken care of
legally - - such as suing tobacco companies and manufacturers that pollute their
communities. I've also been trained in all forms of warfare and fighting. As a
Protector there may come a time when physical strength is needed more than mental agility.
When I first met Brigid at the New York offices of KOTE, she was a frightened twelve-year-old
orphan. As a Protector, I was given a very specific task - - keep her safe. Great things were
predicted for her, but her Terran background must remain hidden. That was easy enough since no one
knew where her Keeper skills lay.
No one predicted that we would fall in love. But we did, and with KOTE's blessing, I've been
happily married for five years.
Now, we've been ordered to Ireland, the home of Brigid's ancestors. A powerful evil has
awakened and it was foretold that Brigid would play an important part in defeating it. Nothing
was said, though, if she would survive the battle. How can I take her into danger?

I’m a born protector with an affinity to the element of Earth. From the earliest time
I can remember, I was aware that I was stronger, faster and more aggressive than the humans
with whom I went to school. I joined the Army to continue my role by protecting my fellow soldiers and civilians. Prior to the day I woke from what I perceived as a nightmare if you had told me I would be one of the prophesied Protector-Consorts to a Talisman, I would have told you to seek psychiatric help.
My first view of Lily Redfern might have been from the astral plane, but the feelings, the attraction
I felt for her, were real. It was love at first sight. Yeah, I know. Bullshit. But it’s true.
We were destined to be together, but I know in my gut that I would have fallen in love with her anyway.
She is courage and intelligence wrapped up in a beautiful package. She makes me whole. Together we are
stronger than we are apart. Ours is a true union of body, mind and spirit.
Brian Rasmussen (Troubled Waters)
 I’m
Brian Rasmussen. I joined the British Special Forces
when I was nineteen and planned on protecting my countrymen
until I retired. I’d been in for ten years when
my best friend was killed on a training mission. The
day after his funeral, I handed in my resignation
and headed south to the British Virgin Islands.
I own a charter fishing company and I’m happy,
though I don’t swim or go any closer to the water
than I need to. One night I went to the bar and met
a beautiful woman. At 35 years old, I learned secrets
about myself and the world I never knew. Suddenly
I’m back in the business of protecting people.

I’m half-human and half-Terran with protector genes and an Air affinity.
A mongrel with one foot in each world.
My father was a Destroyer and a close friend of Algernon Brody. I admit I went into Brody’s
employ knowing full well what he was and what he did to harm the Earth and the humans living on it.
It didn’t take long for me to figure out that I couldn’t continue to work for the man. What he did,
who he was, disgusted me. I was ready to leave when Autumn came into Brody’s life. It was love at
first sight, for both of us. I remained for her. If I did nothing more in this world, I would save her.
I can’t forgive myself for the harm that befell Autumn while she was under the less than tender care of
her abusive husband. Her courage in remaining shames me. She is the main reason we gathered the information
we did about Brody’s foul plans. The fact that she is the Air Talisman means nothing to me, I would lover her
if she was fully human with no powers. The fact I am her Protector-Consort is unbelievable. I am proud that
Gaia has chosen me for Autumn. I will never fail her again.
