Destroyers
Destroyers are Terrans gone bad.
Raymond Brody (Measure of a Man; Fruits of Betrayal)
Ive always known I was destined for greatness
despite what my father said. He couldn't see past
my mistakes and recognize my value. But he will. Ill
show him what Im capable of and he wont
be able to deny my importance any longer.
And I am important. Look at all the people who believe in me now. They listen
to me. Theyll do anything I ask. Anyone can
amass wealth, but few people have the capability to
win souls who will obey their every command.
Its so ridiculously easy to manipulate people.
My special power is in my voice. It casts almost a
spell over vulnerable humans. A few platitudes about
self worth and inner peace and theyre eating
out of my hand. My Center for Human Well Being is
rapidly growing to rival major religious organizations.
When I turn my followers over to my father, hell
have to acknowledge that Ive grown as a man.
I will finally earn his respect.
Algernon Brody (Measure of a Man; Fruits of Betrayal)
The world will be much improved after Terrans resume their rightful place in it. Mere human beings have been
allowed to overpopulate and control the planet for far too long, but I plan to change that.
When I assume my rightful position of power, Terrans will once more be revered,
as is their right. Perhaps even my screw up son, Raymond
will prove useful in my campaign for the United States
Presidency, then, ultimately, Leader of the Free World.
Some sacrifices will have to be made to secure this title, of course. But a few thousand lives here and there are a small price to pay to regain Terran
supremacy. We were gods once, back in ancient times. We shall be so again.
But even gods need a ruler, and I will govern them all.
Elyse Greenwood (Fruits of Betrayal)
One of my favorite stories has always been The Little Mermaid, not the sappy Disney version but the original, hard-edged
fairytale where the price of a pair of feet is the sensation of walking on broken glass. I always identified with the mermaid,
not completely at home in the ocean or on land and unable to commit to either.
My mother was an Earth Keeper, born to protect Earth and all its creatures. My father was a Destroyer, delighting in chaos
and attaining as much power and riches as possible. The two mixed like oil and water, but somehow they made me. A Terran is used
to being an outsider in a mostly human world, but imagine growing up an anomaly even among your own kind. That’s my life and the
reason I’ve always been torn between two worlds.
I met the paragon of Protector perfection, Justin Foster on an assignment and lust entwined us in the hottest sexual
relationship I’ve ever had. But something more than lust kept him in my mind when the job was finished. For the first time I
imagined living a different kind of life. When a second chance to hook up with Foster came around, you can bet I jumped on it.
Nimhnach/Lord Nolen (The Shimmering Flame)
Am I the oldest living Terran in the world?
I think so, if one could call my existence living. I can never leave this pitiful little town stuck in the back of the
beyond on the island now called Ireland. My pact with Ba'al restricts me. I must offer him blood and bone sacrifice to
prolong my life until my ultimate goal of true immortality and world domination is attained.
With my Speaker skills strenghened, I can direct any human's actions, but only if Ba'al wills it. Now, finally, I
have hit upon a scheme that will satisfy Ba'al's bottomless hunger for death. But my plan must begin at the precisely the
right moment or the spell will fail and my life will be forfeit.
All was in readiness and then she appeared. Brigid, that bitch. I had thought her as dead as her father. Now, she has arrived
with others and attempts to thwart my plans.
She will not succeed.
She cannot succeed.
I will not let her succeed.
